The Texas Pension Review Board is accepting stakeholder feedback through Friday, Aug. 21, on proposed changes to the Minimum Educational Training program intended to improve compliance among public retirement system trustees and administrators.

The updated proposals include potential statutory changes that would require systems to adopt education and noncompliance policies and could suspend a noncompliant trustee’s ability to vote, hold a board office or serve on the board. Proposed nonstatutory changes include expanding information about individual course approvals and publishing an annual list of noncompliant trustees and administrators.

PRB staff plans to present the proposals and stakeholder feedback at the board’s Sept. 30 meeting, when the board may vote on the recommendations. Any statutory recommendations approved by the board would be included in the agency’s biennial report to the Texas Legislature.
