Basic Trustee Training is intended for newly appointed trustees and new system administrators of Texas public retirement systems who are completing their first year of service under the Pension Review Board’s Minimum Educational Training (MET) requirements. MET is the mandatory education program established by the Texas Pension Review Board to ensure pension fiduciaries have a foundational understanding of their legal duties, governance responsibilities, investments, actuarial concepts, benefits administration, and risk management.
The program is designed as a foundational course and does not require prior pension, investment, or actuarial experience. Training will take place Saturday, April 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with registration and continental breakfast beginning at 7:15 a.m. Participants must attend the full day to receive MET credit, as the course covers all required core content areas approved by the Pension Review Board.
