Advanced Trustee Training is designed for continuing trustees and system administrators of Texas public retirement systems who are fulfilling their ongoing Pension Review Board (PRB) Minimum Educational Training (MET) requirements beyond the first year of service. Under MET rules, trustees and administrators are required to complete a minimum of two hours of continuing education each calendar year, commencing in the first year of service. These hours may be earned in core content areas, continuing education content areas, or a combination of both.
This course is designed for participants who already possess foundational knowledge of pensions and are seeking to deepen their understanding of current issues, regulatory responsibilities, and plan operations. The content will focus on continuing education topics, including Compliance, Legal and Regulatory Matters, Pension Accounting, Custodial Issues, Plan Administration, the Texas Open Meetings Act, and the Texas Public Information Act.
Training will take place Saturday, April 25, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with registration and breakfast beginning at 7:15 a.m. Following the instructional sessions, an instructor will host an optional one-hour “open office” session to answer attendee questions and discuss practical challenges.
