Polen Capital to Sponsor Lanyards at TEXPERS 2024 Annual Conference
The Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems is excited to announce that Polen Capital, a global asset manager, is the Lanyard Sponsor of the TEXPERS 2024 Annual Conference.
The TEXPERS 2024 Annual Conference, themed "2024 Solar Eclipse: TEXPERS Illuminating The Path to Success," will be held on April 7-10, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Dallas in Downtown Dallas, Texas. The Conference will feature state-mandated training programs, keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities for the trustees, administrators, professional service providers, and employee groups that manage the retirement money of public employees in the Lone Star State.
As the Lanyard Sponsor, Polen Capital will have its logo printed on the lanyards. TEXPERS staff will distribute the lanyards to all conference attendees at the registration table.
"The lanyards are a great way to showcase Polen Capital's brand and support for the public pension industry," says TEXPERS Executive Director Art Alfaro. "We are grateful to Polen Capital for their generous sponsorship and partnership. The Association's Board of Directors and staff look forward to seeing you at the TEXPERS 2024 Annual Conference, where we will work together to advance the quality of governance, management, and administration of Texas public retirement systems."
To register for the Conference, visit www.bit.ly/TEXPERS2024AC. Early bird online registration ends on March 29.
Register & Reserve Your Room Now
TEXPERS members who still need to register for the Conference should do it soon as rooms could be scarce, Alfaro suggests. The rooms at the venue hotel and surrounding lodging are filling up fast due to a solar eclipse on April 8, the Conference's second day.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely blocks the sun, creating a shadow on Earth. The eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada, according to NASA's eclipse information site. In the U.S., Dallas is a prime viewing location, with the partial eclipse beginning around 12:23 p.m. CT and the total eclipse lasting close to 4 minutes. The final stage of the partial eclipse is to end around 3:02 p.m.

Visit Dallas expects big business from the celestial event, listing several events related to the event and links to area hotels, most of which are already booked due to astronomy buffs planning to get the first glimpse of the total eclipse in the U.S. The Conference venue is seeing the same outside its event room block, which expires on March 22. The Conference's Saturday night stays are already sold out.
"The special room block rate is $199," Alfaro said. "That's a big discount to what is being charged compared to the rate for travelers coming in to view the eclipse."
Those attending the Conference won't miss out on the eclipse. TEXPERS is breaking for a Total Aries Solar Eclipse Viewing Event, a chance to network with peers and view the celestial event safely through glasses sponsored by Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann LLP. The event will occur just outside the Hyatt Regency, next door, on the lawn of Reunion Tower.
In addition to the eclipse viewing, Reunion Tower is hosting live music, food trucks, and educational activities. TEXPERS has arranged exclusive access to an area of the lawn for those registered to attend the TEXPERS 2024 Annual Conference, and attendees must wear their name badges.
That's Not All
TEXPERS will end its participation in Reunion Tower's eclipse viewing event around 2 p.m. but continue festivities at the Association's Annual All Members Networking Event from 2 to 5 p.m. at Gilley's Dallas, located at 1135 Botham Jean Blvd.
"The eclipse isn't darkening our efforts to bring TEXPERS members the best opportunities to learn from their peers," Alfaro says. "This year, we're taking advantage of the celestial event and giving our members an experience they might not get to experience while providing them with more personal access to pension management and investment industry experts."
