Amundi Asset Management is serving as a Gold Keynote Sponsor of TEXPERS' 2022 Summer Educational Forum to be held Aug. 21-23, 2022, in El Paso, Texas.
"TEXPERS is pleased to announce that one of our Member Firms, Amundi Asset Management, is assisting us in educating our System Members during this year's event in El Paso," said Art Alfaro, executive director of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems. "As a Gold Sponsor, the firm is providing a top-level thought leader offering industry insights to trustees and administrators attending our event for the latest pension and investment management trends and insight.”
Amundi is an Associate Advisor member of TEXPERS. Amundi US is the United States business of Amundi Asset Management, Europe’s largest asset manager by assets under management and ranked among the ten largest globally[1]. Boston is one of Amundi’s six main global investment hubs[2] and offers a broad range of fixed-income, equity, and multi-asset investment solutions in close partnership with wealth management firms, distribution platforms, and institutional investors across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
With the firm’s financial and extra-financial research capabilities and long-standing commitment to responsible investment, Amundi is a key player in the asset management landscape. Amundi operates with close to 5,300[3] employees in 35 countries. A subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole group and listed on the Paris stock exchange, Amundi currently manages approximately $2.24 trillion of assets[4].
Barron's magazine recently recognized Amundi U.S. for its U.S. fund performance in 2021, ranking 3rd overall among 51 funds, 1st in the Taxable Bond, and 1st in the World Equity categories.
“The firm has an extensive history in the industry, is a dedicated member of our association, and their presenter couldn't be a better choice to provide us with an educational presenter,” TEXPERS’ executive director, Alfaro, said.
Charles Millard will serve as the firm’s keynote speaker, kicking off the event's general sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 23, sharing insights on pension investment management.
“Amundi is proud to support the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems,” Millard said. “In these uncertain times, it is crucial that trustees receive the support they need to make informed, fundamentally-sound investment decisions.”
Millard is a Senior Advisor at Amundi US. He led Pension Relations for Citi from 2011 to 2016, and he was the Director of the U.S. Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation from 2007 to 2009. He was the first Director of the PBGC to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate. As Director, Millard served as chief executive officer and carried the rank of Under Secretary.
He writes and speaks regularly on pension-related issues and has twice presented at PPI. Prior to his appointment to the PBGC, Millard had a varied career in both private and public life, including service as a Managing Director with both Lehman Brothers and Prudential Securities, and as Commissioner for economic development for the City of New York, responsible for much of the redevelopment of 42nd Street and Times Square.
He currently sits on numerous Advisory Boards. He has a B.A. Honors Degree, cum laude, and Phi Beta Kappa, from the College of the Holy Cross, where he received the Presidential Service Award, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was ranked each year as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.
The theme of this year's Educational Forum, Sharing Solutions in Sun City, invites attendees to share their knowledge and insights on public fund management and investment issues while enjoying the relaxed and historic atmosphere of El Paso. TEXPERS' Educational Forum takes place Aug. 21-23, 2022, at Hotel Paso Del Norte, 10 Henry Trost Ct., El Paso, TX 79901.
A preliminary schedule is available on the Summer Educational Forum's registration site.
As the sponsor of the Tuesday, Aug. 23 Gold Keynote speaker, Millard will be the first presenter of the general sessions, starting at 8:30 a.m.
With so many topics treated differently by corporate pension plans and public pension plans, Millard will guide the audience through a comparison of priorities and purposes between the two, including governance, discount rates, liabilities, and the impact of inflation.
Online registration is ongoing through Aug. 7. After that date, registration will be available at the event with a rate increase. A special room block rate is available for TEXPERS Summer Educational Forum attendees who register through July 29, 2022, or until available room nights run out. See the registration site above for details.
